A Quirky Fun Monday

This Fun Monday, Confess Your Quirks, is hosted by Lisa, our ched chum to the north. No, not that kind of chum.
In case you missed this year's slightly soggy Rhythm & Booms, here are some lovely, er, photos (Ab Fab reference and possible quirk) which illustrate the theme.
Warm Up Quirk: I hate crowds, but love the places that hold them before it gets crowded.
A Few More
I'm bad at math and avoid things which intrude on that part of my brain. Who wants candy that makes you check state sales tax. That makes it what, $1.98? What the hell is that?

I only drink tea, but love the smell of coffee. Like Nitro Nanci, who claims she imbibed so much in her youth there isn't any more room left for alcohol, my inner coffee pot overflowed until I went completely off the bean.
Tea Cup ride
I used to hate the color pink. It's tied into an intense dislike of cheerleaders, girlie girls, and the bars of Dove soap which occupied my mouth as a child. The older I get, the less I dislike pink. Except for pink eye, blech. Sorry, Chrissy. (This young lady, let's call her Jessica, put in a 16+ hour day on Saturday. She does not have pink eye.)
Taffy Apples and Caramel Corn
I always have to check out fair food concessions whether or not I have money to buy something or the will power not to. I've jumped many a fence to do so.

I haven't forgiven Chris Carter for killing off the Lone Gunmen. Or letting the last two seasons of the X-Files (in theaters July 25) live.
Little green men
I've been dived bombed by birds so many times (walking or biking on trails), I started to carry a squirt gun. They buzz me with neither tree nor birdhouse in sight. I was walking down the MIDDLE OF THE BLEEPIN' ROAD tonight and they still f*&@ed with me. Bleepin' birds.
Funhouse
I don't consider my salsiccia and peppers done unless they're burned.
Peppers and Italian sausage
I think name calling is mean. Unless it's really funny. Case in point, my nickname in junior high was "Pube Head."
Elephant Ears
I like big fluffy dogs that lunge at you. Especially when the owner can't control them and you know they're the reason the dog feels it can party. That's okay boy, go for it. Good boy. I've been told my attitude doesn't help.
Golden RetrieverI often confuse simple concepts and blame it on lack of sleep.
"Uh, I'd like to warm my cookies here—is there a charge for that?"
Insomnia Cookies
I find a lot of stuff that nobody else but me thinks is cool.
Dirty sock

Don't tell me you took the sock home! Eww! Unless that was your sock.

My stepson got called pube head too. His hair is very pretty now.

Looked like a great event! I am like you and don't like crowds either, so I miss out on some things.

Thanx for playing!

Mariposa said...

I'm with you on the pink...the older I get, the more I get to embrace it.

Pamela said...

Now I'm giggling -- so much truth here in this post, with just the right measure of humor.

Jeanna said...

I don't mind crowds after they're gone, Lisa. Thanks for thinking of such a fun one. My hair is pretty much the same. No, I didn't take the sock home, but thought it kind of poignant.

Jeanna said...

Hi Mariposa, yeah, what's up with that?

Jeanna said...

Thanks, Pamela, you're a pretty good storyteller, and I'm not really a cat type person. As maybe you can see by the liking when big dogs jump up on people.

I only drink tea and HATE coffee...but I love the smell of coffee too! Great pics!

I don't drink coffee either...but love the smell of it.

My FM is posted...come on over!!

Jeanna said...

Hi Tracey, someone told me if you can't drink or don't like coffee, you're supposed to hate the smell.
Wrong again, sister.

Jeanna said...

Another doll heard from. Am on my way over, Hootin'.

Enjoyed the Post was looking for the Baked Potato stand, I have a friend who works that one every year. Cookies Yumm ...

Erin said...

I love this post! I love the pictures.

Jeanna said...

I didn't see a Baked Potato Stand, I Am. Plenty of fries though. Even some deep fried Oreos. That's some hard work stuck in that hot little space all day and night.

Jeanna said...

Thanks, Erin, I love walking around all non-committal like and taking these kind of photos. Especially knowing I won't get stuck there when the crowd arrives.

I'm just the opposite. I loved pink as a child. My bedroom walls were pink and I had a pink bedspread, curtains, etc. I wore pink dresses, pink T-shirts, pink shorts. The older I became, the less I liked pink. I don't have anything pink in my house or wardrobe now. I do, however, have lovely pink flowers in the garden.

Jeanna said...

There was a time I wouldn't allow a pink flower into the house, Songbird. I knew it, I'm going backwards.

Debs said...

Looks like you found one of my missing socks. That is cool. *LOL*

I use to hate the color pink, but now I find it more and more to my liking.

My hair is curly and in middle school, my brother started to call me poodle ears. The name stuck.

nikki said...

Elephant years, be still my heart.

SwampAngel65 said...

I can't get past "Pube Head"! LOL, I've never heard that name before. Like you, Iused to be anit-pink, but now it's ok, though I get kidded by some whenever I wear that color.

Jeanna said...

Hi Debs, I got called poodle a lot. Among other things. I'll keep the sock on ice for you.

Jeanna said...

Hi Nikki, it's those funnel cakes that kill me. Or will.

Jeanna said...

Many have forgotten my anti-pink stance at this point, Swampangel. It will pass. I know people still think "Pube Head" when they see me, even if they don't say it out loud.

C said...

What an excellent post, Jeanna!

LOL! I thought you'd forgotten about the pink eye post!

Great photos. Looks like lots of fun. That sock was icky though! I hate finding random articles of clothing that are left in the oddest places (and don't belong to me)!

I was at the beach with our nieces and someone's underwear was hanging on a post on our way in from the sand dunes. That is nasssssssssstayyyy!!!

Jeanna said...

How could I forget about your pink eye, C.? Grundies on a post, that is funny. Especially on that pristine beach, now at Warner Park it wouldn't be too out of place.

jientje said...

hehehe, I enjoyed this post! Especially the man and his dog!

Aoj & The Lurchers said...

I'm so glad you didn't take the sock hon! That would have been way too weird!

Jeanna said...

Thanks, Jientje, there was a little hairy Chihuahua or something off to the side behaving himself and judging.

Jeanna said...

I was tempted, Ms. Lurcher, maam.

susan said...

I want to know what you did to offend the Bird Queen so badly that she has set all of her royal subjects out to attack you!

Jeanna said...

They are like flying Monkeys, Susan. I don't know, I even saved a few baby birds awhile back. I have photos; maybe I should bring them along the next time I go for a walk. But then where would I put the squirt gun? Hmm...

Tiggerlane said...

OMG...that made me laugh SO HARD. Especially the lunging dog and idea of asking to warm up your cookies! LOL!

Molly said...

I love the colorful pictures that you have included with your post. I like and drink coffee, but coffee never ever tastes as good as it smells. You can have the sock, but I like the picture.

Heather said...

I loved X-Files!!!!!! My husband and I went to a Halloween party dressed as Mulder and Scully. I'm glad it has not been forgotten by everyone!

Pube head - that's not nice!

Irish Coffeehouse said...

Oh I do the same thing with concession stands. I just like to see what smells are permeating and what variety of foods are being offered. Too funny! I thought I was the only one vulturing the stands.

Thanks for sharing!

Olive said...

I picked up alot of shiny stuff that I see on the ground. To me that is what is cool. Is it carnival time in your neighborhood? Cool photos.

Jeanna said...

Thanks Tigerlane, I promise not to buy an odd number of cookies.

Jeanna said...

Hey Molly, I think Debs has claimed the sock anyway. Love the smell of coffee, love the taste of tea. How are those crawdad earrings hanging?

Jeanna said...

Hey Heather, I'm on the way to the store for some corn on the cob thanks to you. Can't wait for the movie--what a great costume!

grace said...

that was a very cool post!! I love tea too and miss it a lot, I cant have any right now since I am nursing and I don't like decafinatted

Jeanna said...

No, I'm a stand vulture since childhood, Irish. But now you have me wondering about smokey fumes.

Jeanna said...

I put my right sneaker on first just now, Olive. I love your logo.
The mini carnivals haunt the malls in early May, this was a huge event that can draw 1/4 mil or more people. This is why I left early. It's called Rhythm & Booms which is a lot of music and whatnot leading up to a kick ass fireworks display.

Jeanna said...

Hi Grace, you know I can ride a bike with no handle bars. At least I used ta could. I think that means make do with what you got.
I wouldn't drink the decaf tea either, but now that is all I'll drink. No loss in the taste department.

Anglophile Football Fanatic said...

EWww on the sock. And, I've NEVER much liked pink. Probably another reason I only want boys.

Jeanna said...

I was down on the pink until recently, and I know I could turn at any moment.
Happy Blogoversary, Football Fanatic.

Faye said...

Your big hary jumping dog quirk cracks me up. This guy in my neighborhood walks a border collie and I think is embarrassed because he can't make it not leaf, bob and weave.

It's been a long time since i visited your blog. I'll be back. Love your sense of humor.

Alison said...

great post..I also only drink tea but love the smell of coffee!

robinellablog said...

I love all of your quirks, except maybe the sock. Ewwww.

And altho I don't drink coffee, I love the smell too and used to hang little sachets of coffee beans in my kitchen. Mmmmm.

Jeanna said...

Don't be a stranger, Faye, you little book vandal you. Nah, a lot of my English and Theater professors believed this was the only way to read a book. Me, I'm too lazy, unless I trying to study lines.
Border collies can be nuts. My cousin is trying to place a bc/dalmation. Ha!

Jeanna said...

Seriously, Alison, when you movin' in?

Jeanna said...

Sachets of coffee beans around the room, sounds aromatic, Robinella. I'd give it a try, but then I'd want to go back to coffee and I'm off the bean for life. Or at least my stomach lining is.
Only Debs wanted the sock.

Nekked Lizard Lady said...

Ok, I was feeling really good about your post, fun time, pretty colors, cool food.... then came the sock.

Ari_1965 said...

When I rule the universe all financial transactions will be in even numbers only.

Jeanna said...

Hey there Lizard Lady. ("Hey laaddyy.") I assume you're typing in the dark? I don't know what people have against that cute little old sock.

Jeanna said...

Hey Ari, hope da weather up dere is as nice as it is down here hey. I betcha sick of Fargo jokes after how many years now?
Anyway, THANK YOU. Even numbers it is when I take over.
Love that shepherd.

Uncivil said...

OK....would you rather be called "Pube Head" or "Sock Sniffer"?

Nina said...

I feel the same way about pink.

I can't start my day without my coffee. And as far as math is concerned, I make sure I get a cell phone with a calculator and yes I pull it out frequently.

Great pics, looks like you had a great day.

Jeanna said...

I know you're a sock sniffer from way back, James. I bet the girls would have been all over that sock.

Jeanna said...

Hi Nina, love the Crabby Bitch pin. I think we all need a math chip installed. Wonder if Best Buy has something.

Jo Beaufoix said...

The big crazy dog and the mouldy sock? Hilarious. I drink mainly tea but I also like the smell of coffee. Weird. :D

Rebecca said...

I love that sock. Heh.

Jeanna said...

Hey Jo, I'm a chocolate ice cream lover myself. Hasn't changed since I was a kid. If you scroll down far enough you'll see what I mean.
You have a kid aged 63?

Jeanna said...

Hi Rebecca, that makes two of us. Oh, you were just kidding.
