Inconvenient

I washed my car last night and didn't want to subject it to snow, fog, wind, water, ice, freezing rain, sleet, or downed power lines. So I went for a walk instead. That convenience store down the way has interesting candy, thought I. Look, another life form.

JoshThis is Josh from Glass Nickel Pizza. Put your gloves on, Josh! Is that the Atwood Ave. Glass Nickel delivering in this precipitation stew? Impressive. I wanted to give him a tip, but my money had frozen to the inside of my pocket. Cold, hard cash you say? Good one.

Bill and LaceyThe last time I went a-wandering (Val-deri, Val-dera,) I met Bill and Lacey. It was much nicer out, although there had been a blizzard the day before. Of course there had. Lacey's got the same expression my mother gets when dad insists on talking to everyone he meets. Leave it to an old guy to find one of the few toilets on the park's 422 acres.

ice houseThere are Secret Window vibes coming from behind this tangle of ice. Do you think they have candy in there? Bet there's lots of corn. Better yet, candy corn. Think I'll go home and have a Tim Tam.
Next in the dish: Tim Tams, if there are any left.

  2. Hey Chrissy. I was going to make your squash recipe over the weekend, but thought I'd try some of the green beans with a nice piece of fish. They were delicious! How does the green bean earn the right to taste so good. I'll do the squash and maybe your cream of broccoli soup recipe this week.
That dog looked like she wanted the old dude to get in his truck and go home already.

  5. I don't know what a tim tam is, even with the explanation, but otherwise I was deeply enthralled.

  6. Jeanna...now you've got me craving Tim Tams! Those are some purrrrrrrrrrrty darn good cookies (or 'biscuits', as some prefer to call them).

When I was teaching overseas, the teacher who lived next to my apartment was from Australia. She had her mom send her boxes and boxes of Tim Tams. Ohhhhhhhhhhh myyyyyyy goshhh!! YUMMY!!

    P.S. I made the butternut squash/green beans dish tonight. T'was delish :)

  7. Hey C., they are addictive little bars. I had to hide them on myself.
I found the most wonderful strawberries at the neighborhood market today. It's very hit and miss there, but they also had some pink angel food cake to go with. Yum! Weird place, where the best things are hit and miss veggies, fruit, and the most sinful long Johns I've ever seen.

  8. Hey there Jay. Bad memory, clear conscience, got it and already forgot it.
Will pull the Tim Tams out from hiding soon. They're a rich Aussie cookie that's almost like a candy bar. To make matters worse, they melt well in hot drinks.
    The diet continues.

  9. Ugh! You are approaching like 90" of snow right? We have had over 51" of snow this winter. This is a great little post, I truly love it. I love the photo of Lacey and her person. Sweet. The spun sugar on those branches is great. XOXO

  10. We have more snow than you? Dang. Well it's above zero, so spring is nigh.
Got some more spun sugar in the sun yesterday, but so. very. cold.
Ha, thanks, I think Lacey would have been in the truck if she had her own set of keys.

  11. everyone is wearing t-shirts and flip flops, and I'm still bundled up in sweaters. But it had to be sixty five yesterday, seventy in the car. Mild winter. (..that's a lot of snow.)

  12. Whew! Looks cold enough to get my "Tims" in a "Tam"?

  13. Okay, Jodi, that's quite enough from you. Betcha I'll see plenty o' people wearing flip flops and t-shirts when it soars into the 30s this week.I might even subject the world to my pasty white gams. Hell, bet I could catch many an idiot wearing flip flops and shorts right now on campus. And it's 10 below right now (that's w/out wind chill, ya'll).
